After a whirlwind three months as Miss USA -- including personal appearances, paparazzi and advice from notables such as model Tyson Beckford and even former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright -- Dearborn's Rima Fakih is gearing up to compete for yet another shiny tiara and satiny sash during the Miss Universe Pageant.
The 24-year-old is currently in Las Vegas preparing for the pageant there, which will broadcast live Monday on NBC. But, on Aug. 6, she spoke to The Detroit News by phone from Manhattan. Fakih says, while competing in Miss USA was amazing, Miss Universe is on another level.
"There are more girls (50 in Miss USA and in Miss Universe, 83) and a wider range of beauty," she says. "And while I was representing my state in Miss USA, in Miss Universe I will be representing my country. Plus, all the international attention." (CONT.) |
